How to start?
The first step is to schedule an initial on-site consultation. During the consultation, we will listen to your needs and ideas and make our own suggestions about plants, hardscaping, and layout of the garden. This typically takes about an hour. A flat fee of $90 covers time & traveling expenses. This fee is waived if you hire us to do a design.
What's next?
One consultation may be all you need. Or you can schedule additional consultation time, billed hourly at $90 for the first hour of the visit and $60 per hour thereafter.
For any other design service you are interested in, we'll send you a proposal. Once your acceptance is received back, your project will be scheduled with a date to begin work.
What is our Full Plan service?
Need a blueprint to renovate or install your new landscape? Our Full Plan service is an in-depth collaborative process:
The first meeting is the initial on-site consultation to discuss your project and exchange ideas.
Next the garden is measured and photographed. Grade elevation, views, soil, drainage and other factors may be evaluated to develop a site Baseplan.
Then we meet to review the Conceptual Plan which shows hardscape features such as decks, patios, and paths along with lawn areas, garden beds, and locations for trees. We also review a Plant List of proposed types of plants to be used in the plan.
Finally, we can create the Master Plan that combines the features in the Conceptual plan with the placement of all plants and hardscape features on the plan.
The Full Plan service is billed at $60 per hour. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, most Full Plan projects are priced from $825 to $1800 to cover the 15-35 usual hours needed for the design process.
For smaller budgets, you can hire us to do just a Conceptual Plan for the entire property (for about $550) with some additional on-site consultation as needed. Here's another way to save money:
What is our Rapid Plan service?
The Rapid Plan is ideal for smaller projects where you can save money by doing part of the planning work yourself. If the Rapid Plan is right for your project, we get started by sending you a packet to help you measure and draw your base plan. You will also fill out a survey to help us understand your vision for the garden. When we receive your materials, we review the base plan and survey to know what will be helpful to bring to our appointment.
During our on-site meeting, we will design the garden with you collaboratively in 2 to 5 hours depending on the size of the site. At the end, you will have a custom written plan to scale, a plant list, and a packet of tips to help you get started. Priced reasonably at $250 to $475, you keep costs down by measuring and drawing the base plan yourself (we'll show you how).

What about changes?
There is usually no charge for small changes to a final Master Plan or Rapid Plan. But major changes due to your change of direction or other unforeseen events, are billed as additional design time at $60 per hour.
Who builds and/or plants it?
You can install the garden gradually yourself as your time and budget allows. Or we can help you choose quality, licensed landscape contractors to install part or all of the design. We can also deliver healthy plants and trees at competitive rates. Additional consultation during installation is billed at an hourly rate.
